Its true. What everyone tells you about your life changing when you have children. I can vouch for them...they are telling the truth. I think I expected the change to hit me all of the sudden upon his arrival. However we spent so much time just trying to get through the first few weeks, it felt more like high drama and less like my life. Life changed slowly and its only on reflection back that I can pinpoint whats different. Most noticeably is my appearance. My waist has disappeared If you find it could you please return it to me? Then of course there is my skin--I look old and shriveled. My hair is frizzy from neglect. Every item of clothing I own has white vomit spots. Then there is the house. Two words: BOMB SITE. This has not been helped by the untimely return of one basset hound 24 hours after leaving. From the time I learned, I have been an avid reader. I can say I have not read a book about anything other than babies since E's arrival. I am currently reading The Fussy Baby Book by Dr Sears. I am not sure what I think about it. Take for example the passage on "My Partner Works Too Much" in the Mummy Burnout Chapter: Say to your self, "He's doing what he has to do". When he is home make the most of the time you have together by being positive and undemanding. Those of you who know me, can imagine what my reply was to that when I read it. Yes, it does begin with F. Back to change: I get worried about things like life insurance and what happens to Ellis if something happens to Kevin and I. No we don't have guardians yet!!! I would do anything to make Ellis happy. Before I would have done anything to make myself happy. Simple pleasures are so much more meaningful. Ahh, Guiness and a bath! Cuddling Ellis is better than any of the drugs I have done (don't worry Mom, I'm only talking about caffeine) Life is so much more emotionally rich. My range of emotion has expanded to higher highs and lower lows. Ok, gotta go because the cause of this change is looking for food!
