I have been quietly smug over the last few weeks about what a great baby we have--so laid back, falls asleep easily, no colic, putting on weight like a pro, not one single bout of inconsolable crying. Then yesterday afternoon happened.

To be fair I should have seen it coming. This weekend, Ellis just wasn't himself. He whined a lot more than normal and was just generally grumpy. Yesterday afternoon though at my mum's group, all hell broke loose. He just was inconsolable. He wanted to eat every five minutes. Wasn't happy up, down, in the sling, rocking...he barely slept all day...ate terribly. It was awful. He cried in the car the whole way home. He was inconsolable all night. Then he slept the longest he has ever slept in a stretch--5 hours from 8pm-1am!!!

I know I still am lucky--he's six weeks old and that is the first time a breakdown has happened. But man--he is NOT a pleasant person when he is cross!

Other than the 5 hours of sleep, the tantrum did help resolve an issue we've been having with Ellis not wanting Kevin. All weekend, he cried wheneve Kev came near him. Yesterday, the minute K held him, he stopped crying!!! What a relief!

Not much happening today. Ellis has been asleep much of the morning in his sling. I should be cleaning the house for a certain important visitor this weekend, but I honestly can't find the motivation. To be fair I have tidied the house, done the dinner dishes from last night and washed a load of nappies. Who knows at the end of this year I may just have this housewife thing in the bag (but probably not, as a) I am an inherently lazy person and b) I get resentful of it all and will make Kevin do it)

oh, I have a new obsession with slings as I think they are a godsend. I can get stuff done around the house! Ellis either sleeps or just looks around--its fab!
